A Made Up Mind

It occurred to me that many people have the idea that when the year changes, everything is supposed to magically change. They list all of types of goals that they will start advancing toward in the new year. But why do they have to wait? There is no reason. No magic happens when the year changes. People just make up their minds.

That’s the magic: A made up mind.

But that’s not all that has to happen.

So, this battle you’re going through requires you to make up your mind to come out victorious. Yeah, you thought that simply writing down, “I won’t deal with __________ anymore in the new year”, was making up your mind but it isn’t. Without a test, how do you know your mind is set? Making up your mind can’t be compared to making up a bed. It must be proven through your actions.

So here are a few tips to ensure your “made up mind” continues all 2020

  1. Yes, write down your goal (what you’re making your mind up about)

  2. Create a plan to stay committed

  3. Analyze yourself and identify what your greatest internal flaw is that’s going to hinder you

  4. Create a plan to manage and rid yourself of that flaw

  5. Analyze the people around you and activities you engage in

  6. Start distancing yourself from what or who doesn’t align with your goal

  7. Write a letter to yourself to carry with you

  8. Whenever the test comes, read that letter and stay committed to your “made-up mind”
